Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – Akaza’s Return has made a historic debut in Japanese theaters, delivering a record-breaking performance that surpasses all prior anime film releases, including the franchise’s own global phenomenon, Mugen Train.

Released on July 18, the film earned ¥3.8 billion (approximately $25 million USD) in just its first two days, outperforming the ¥2.97 billion opening of Mugen Train, which had previously set the benchmark for anime box office success. The first day alone brought in an estimated ¥1.7 billion, making it the fastest opening in Japanese cinema history.

The film marks the beginning of the climactic Infinity Castle trilogy, which will serve as the final arc of the Demon Slayer anime adaptation. Featuring Upper Moon 3, Akaza, in a central role, the story delves into one of the series’ most emotionally complex and action-heavy battles. The focus on Akaza has resonated deeply with fans, as the film explores themes of loss, rage, and redemption with cinematic intensity.

The success is not just measured in numbers. Early critical and fan responses highlight the film’s extraordinary production values. Studio Ufotable once again delivers breathtaking animation and masterful fight choreography, pushing the boundaries of what theatrical anime can achieve. Several theaters in Japan reported sold-out midnight screenings, with many describing the atmosphere as more akin to a blockbuster film premiere than a traditional anime release.

This domestic success arrives ahead of the film’s wider international rollout. Several Asian territories are set to receive the movie in August, with a global release scheduled for September. If current trends continue, Akaza’s Return could mirror or even surpass the worldwide performance of Mugen Train, which ultimately grossed over ¥40 billion (~$300 million USD), becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.

What sets Infinity Castle apart is not only its commercial success but its role in concluding one of the most culturally significant anime franchises of the decade. The Demon Slayer series has consistently delivered high-impact storytelling, and this film continues that legacy with a refined balance of spectacle and emotional depth.

As anticipation builds for the second and third installments in the trilogy, Akaza’s Return sets a powerful precedent—both as a box office force and as a cinematic milestone in modern anime. Its rapid success reflects not only the enduring popularity of Demon Slayer but also the franchise’s ability to evolve and captivate audiences well beyond its original fanbase.

With more international premieres on the horizon, the global impact of Infinity Castle is only beginning to unfold.

The One Piece anime is officially on a one-week break, with Episode 1137 now scheduled to premiere on July 27. This temporary delay comes due to election coverage in Japan, giving fans a short pause just after one of the most emotionally devastating episodes in recent memory.

Last week’s broadcast of Episode 1136 marked the emotional conclusion of Bartholomew Kuma’s heartbreaking backstory. After weeks filled with sorrow, sacrifice, and shocking revelations, Kuma’s past has now been fully laid bare—and calling it anything less than heart-wrenching would be an understatement.

From the unimaginable suffering he endured to the impossible choices he was forced to make, Kuma’s journey stands as one of the most tragic in One Piece. Episode 1136 didn’t just end a flashback—it left viewers stunned. “For many, the weight of his story hit hard—leaving them quiet, emotional, and shaken as the final moments faded to silence and the credits rolled.

Although the anime is on pause this week, the preview for Episode 1137 has already been released. Titled “I’m Sorry, Dad – Bonney’s Tears and Kuma’s Fist,” the episode teases a major turning point: the moment when Kuma himself seemingly arrives on Egghead Island. You can check out the preview below.

This marks a dramatic return to the present timeline, and with tensions already peaking on Egghead, the stakes are about to skyrocket. The break may be frustrating, but it also gives fans a moment to breathe and reflect on the powerful storytelling we’ve just experienced—before the chaos resumes.

Toei Animation will not be airing a recap or special episode during the break—it’s a complete halt in the broadcast. And while the wait may be tough, especially with the Egghead arc heating up and the Straw Hats back in focus, the timing feels earned.

After everything we’ve seen Kuma endure, a brief delay gives everyone time to emotionally reset and brace for what comes next. Because once Episode 1137 airs on July 27, the story is set to accelerate at full force.

With Episode 1136 closing the curtain on Bartholomew Kuma’s tragic past, and the next explosive chapter waiting just ahead, One Piece takes a short but well-placed pause. It’s a rare moment of reflection—both for the characters and the audience. As we prepare to return to the present-day battle on Egghead Island, anticipation continues to mount. Episode 1137 premieres July 27—and all eyes will be on what happens next.

The second season of I Parry Everything: What Do You Mean I’m the Strongest? I’m Not Even an Adventurer Yet! has been officially announced. The announcement marks a significant milestone for the franchise, which continues to gain momentum since the conclusion of its first season.

Season 1 of I Parry Everything aired from July to September 2024 and was animated by Studio OLM. The series is currently available for streaming on HIDIVE. During the anniversary event, fans were treated to a celebratory stage featuring voice actors Daiki Hamano (Noor), Ryoko Maekawa (Lean), Nanako Mori (Ines), and Ayumu Murase (Rolo). The cast engaged the audience with interactive content, including quizzes and games themed around the series.

The main staff behind Season 1 included Hiroshi Fukuyama as director, Shigeru Murakoshi overseeing series composition, and Chikako Noma as character designer. The chief animation directors were Yuji Ikeda and Toshiaki Oohashi, while music was composed by BeauDamian and Tatsuhiko Saiki. Studio OLM handled animation production.

The anime is based on the light novel written by Nabeshiki with illustrations by Kawaguchi. Originally serialized on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2019, the series was later picked up by Earth Star Entertainment in 2020. A manga adaptation by KRSG is also ongoing in Comic Earth Star magazine. J-Novel Club holds the English license for the light novel.

HIDIVE describes the story as follows:

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
The Kingdom of Clays faces a dire crisis: an assassination attempt has just been made on its own Princess Lynneburg, and now its neighboring countries eye the aftermath like starving vultures, plotting the Kingdom’s downfall. The ensuing conflict will shape the face of the continent for centuries to come…but Noor doesn’t have a clue about any of that!

Having freshly arrived at the royal capital after over a decade of rigorous, isolated training at his mountain home, he’s dead set on achieving his childhood dream of becoming an adventurer—even if the only skills he possesses are seemingly useless. Sure, Noor can “parry” thousands of swords in the span of a single breath, but everybody knows you need more than that to be an adventurer! Noor’s journey to fulfill his dream is about to begin, and while the road may be long and uncertain, one thing is clear: he’s not afraid of a little hard work.

</details>

With Season 2 now officially in production, fans can look forward to seeing more of Noor’s unconventional journey in a fantasy world where parrying might just be the strongest skill of all. Stay tuned for further updates, including the release window and returning staff details, as they are revealed.

Netflix has renewed Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft for a second season, just weeks after the debut of Season 1. The first season serves as an “origin story” for Lara Croft, introducing fans to her early adventures and struggles. However, in Season 2, Lara’s journey will take on a deeper, more intense path as she transforms from a novice adventurer into the legendary tomb raider she’s destined to become.

Showrunner Tasha Huo has shared insights into Lara’s growth this season. While Season 1 portrayed Lara as an isolated figure dealing with grief, Season 2 will introduce new allies, guiding her from a lone wolf to a leader who values her team. Huo even hinted at a potential shark encounter, adding an extra layer of suspense.

Produced by Legendary Television, the show boasts a strong team. Tasha Huo serves as writer and executive producer, with contributions from dj2 Entertainment founder Dmitri M. Johnson, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Jacob Robinson of Skull Island. Animation is led by Powerhouse Animation, known for its high-quality visuals.

With Season 2, fans can expect Tomb Raider to deepen Lara Croft’s character while delivering the thrilling adventure, mystery, and action the franchise is famous for. From forming new alliances to facing off against unpredictable threats, Lara’s journey is far from over—and this next chapter promises to be her most epic yet.

Exciting news for fans of My Happy Marriage! The beloved anime is returning with a special release-Episode 13 (OVA), which will be streaming on Netflix starting November 22, 2024. This episode was initially available in Japan as part of a special Blu-ray bundled with Volume 8 of the light novel, released in March. Now, global fans can experience this long-awaited episode just in time for the holidays, setting the stage for Season 2, which kicks off in January 2025.

The highly anticipated special OVA episode, Episode 13, centers on the day of the long- awaited party, the culmination of all Miyo’s lady lessons. As the guests speculate about what kind of woman would be formally engaged to the notoriously cold Kiyoka Kudou, all eyes are on her. Hazuki feels content seeing Miyo, though nervous, gracefully fulfilling her role in an elegant dress. During the event, Kiyoka approaches Miyo and says, “There’s someone I want you to meet…”

My Happy Marriage Season 2 is officially scheduled to premiere in January 2025. Fans can expect to be reunited with their favorite characters and dive deeper into the captivating story of Kiyoka Kudou and Miyo Saimori. Studio Kinema Citrus is back to animate the second season, maintaining the same high-quality visuals and touching storytelling. Takehiro Kubota will once again direct, with Masayuki Kojima assisting. The scriptwriting team includes Ami Sato, Misato Hashiba, Fuka Ishii, and Momoka Toyoda. Shoko Yasuda returns as the character designer, and Evan Call will once again compose the music, promising a memorable soundtrack.

As we count down to January 2025, this update brings immense excitement!

The highly anticipated special re-edited version of the One Piece: Fish-Man Island Saga has been delayed. Originally set to premiere on October 27, the first episode is now rescheduled to broadcast on November 3, due to a live MLB World Series broadcast taking its timeslot. A preview of Episode 1 has been released, with the premiere episode titled “The New Beginning! The Straw Hats Reunite!”

This re-edited version of the Fish-Man Island arc will condense the original 58-episode saga into a streamlined 21-episode format, offering better pacing and a more action-packed experience. Fans can expect a fresh retelling of the arc with upgraded visuals and enhanced sound, significantly improving upon the original release. This reimagined version will air during the TV anime’s half-year hiatus and is expected to build anticipation for the continuation of the series in April 2025.

One of the most exciting aspects of this remake is the complete visual overhaul. The production team has focused heavily on refining the animation and art style, which had been inconsistent in the post-time-skip arcs. Fans can look forward to crisper character designs, smoother animation, and vibrant colors that will bring new life to the underwater wonderland of Fish-Man Island.

Adding to the excitement are brand-new opening and ending themes that will elevate every episode. The opening theme, “We Go!” by Kitadani Hiroshi, will feature an unexpected collaboration, giving a fresh and exciting twist to the iconic music. Meanwhile, the new ending theme, “Sailing” by BE:FIRST, will provide a heartfelt conclusion to each episode.

Fish-Man Island holds a special place in One Piece lore as the gateway to the New World and the first major arc where the Straw Hat crew’s post-time-skip powers are fully displayed. However, the original anime adaptation faced criticism for its slow pacing and uneven animation. While the manga told the story in 51 chapters, the anime stretched it across 58 episodes, leading to complaints from fans.

This re-edited version aims to correct those issues by tightening the story and cutting unnecessary filler. With a leaner 21-episode arc, fans can expect a more streamlined and intense viewing experience, one that closely mirrors the fast-paced, emotional storytelling of the manga.

In short, this new edition of the Fish-Man Island Saga promises to be a must-watch for both longtime fans and newcomers. Mark your calendars for November 3, as this reimagined version of a beloved arc is sure to make waves!

After Ashikaga Takauji’s betrayal and the subsequent rebellion, Hojo Tokiyuki, the rightful heir, flees the massacre with the help of Suwa Yorishige, a Shinto priest. Now on the run, Tokiyuki must fight to reclaim his birthright and restore his family’s honor.
