The upcoming Dragon Ball DAIMA anime has just dropped a new trailer, unveiling additional cast members and previewing the series’ opening theme song. Excitingly, it’s confirmed that the entire anime is already completed and will debut on October 11 with an extended first episode.
The trailer showcases the anime’s opening song, “Jaka Jaan,” a collaboration between Grammy Award-winning DJ/producer Zedd and the singer-songwriter duo C&K. The lyrics were penned by Yukinojo Mori, the talent behind iconic Dragon Ball tracks like “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” and “Genkai Toppa X Survivor.” Zedd composed the music, and at his request, C&K contributed to both the composition and the vocal performance.
Alongside the trailer, an updated main visual was released, featuring several new characters. The following additional voice cast members were announced:
- Supreme Kai (Mini) voiced by Yumiko Kobayashi (Shinnosuke Nohara in Crayon Shin-chan)
- Glorio voiced by Koki Uchiyama (Banagher Links in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn)
- Panzy voiced by Fairouz Ai (Manatsu Natsuumi/ Cure Summer in Tropical-Rouge! Precure)
Dragon Ball DAIMA is produced by Toei Animation, with series creator Akira Toriyama overseeing the story and original character designs. The series is directed by Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki, with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru adapting the character designs for animation and Yuko Kashihara handling the series composition and script.
The Dragon Ball franchise began with Akira Toriyama’s manga in 1984, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump until 1989. Its sequel, Dragon Ball Z, ran from 1989 to 1995. The series was later followed by Dragon Ball Super, which began in 2015 and continues to this day.
Dragon Ball has inspired numerous anime adaptations, with the most recent being Dragon Ball Super and Super Dragon Ball Heroes. While Super Dragon Ball Heroes exists outside the main continuity, fans have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of the main story. The Dragon Ball Super TV anime aired from 2015 to 2018, spanning 131 episodes. The announcement of Dragon Ball DAIMA. in October 2023 has fans excited for this next chapter in the beloved series.
