Following the heart throbbing sequel film Rascal Does Not Dream Of a dreaming girl in 2019 the popularity of the series grew even further. The anime Rascal Does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is adapted from the light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Kēji Mizoguchi. A manga adaptation illustrated by Tsugumi Nanamiya had been also serialized since December 2015. The story revolves around Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima who decide to solve a mystery known as Adolescence Syndrome.
The first season aired in 2018 and upon release it was trending on popularity polls and search list, not to mention anime fans were blessed by their new crush Mai Sakurajima. A film naming Rascal Does Not Dream Of a dreaming girl was released in 2019 which adapted the sixth and seventh volumes of the light novel series, serving as a sequel of the first season.
In 2022, Aniplex held an online event that hosted new anime news and announcements ever since 2020. In there it was announced that the Rascal Does Not Dream of series will have its 3rd sequel which can be the chronological second season of the anime. Finally on 24 September 2022, the official Twitter account of the series directly announced it, and a new promotional video was also released to contribute to the announcement.
It not only confirmed the return of previous cast members, but also that CloverWorks will animate Season 2, with Soichi Masui as the director. Although it is not sure whether the sequel will be known as simply season 2 or rather an edition to Rascal Doesn’t Dream Series. Because the series will be the adaptation the 8th and 9th light novels which are named Rascal Does Not Dream of A Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid respectively. So, it is possible the anime may follow the titles of light novels like they did in the movie.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai Sequel Release Date
Till now, no exact release date has not been announced yet. But we are assuming it will probably air in the late of 2023 or early 2024. The next sequel will revolve around Kaede Azusagawa for the 8th light novel and Mai Sakurajima for the 9th light novel which will have a depressing tone.
