So previously what we saw, Cid’s opponent turns out to be Aurora, a former member of the Sanctuary who had been thought to be dead. Aurora reveals that she was resurrected by the Shadow Garden, an organization dedicated to obtaining and wielding the power of the shadows. She challenges Cid to a battle in order to test his strength and determine if he is worthy of joining the Shadow Garden.
During the fight, Cid is able to hold his own against Aurora and even lands a few blows, but she ultimately proves to be too powerful for him to defeat. As the battle comes to a close, Aurora reveals that she was only using a fraction of her true strength and offers Cid a chance to join the Shadow Garden and learn the secrets of the shadows.
Despite being tempted by the offer, Cid ultimately refuses and decides to continue fighting for his own beliefs. Aurora respects his decision and disappears, leaving Cid to ponder the events of the battle and the true nature of the Shadow Garden.
