New Original Anime “Pon no Michi” Announced, Set to Debut in January 2024

Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture – Excitement fills the air as the announcement of a captivating new original TV anime titled “Pon no Michi” has been made. Scheduled to premiere in January 2024, this highly anticipated anime aims to depict the daily lives of a group of high school girls in Onomichi City, who find solace and camaraderie at a former mahjong parlor.

Accompanied by a mesmerizing teaser visual and a teaser promotional video, “Pon no Michi” is expected to capture the hearts of anime enthusiasts around the world.

The official announcement revealed the main cast for “Pon no Michi,” showcasing a talented lineup of voice actors. Kaori Maeda will lend her voice to the spirited Nashiko Jippensha, while Iori Saeki takes on the role of the lively Pai Kawahigashi.

Shion Wakayama will portray the character Izumi Tokutomi, and Yui Kondou will bring to life the charismatic Riche Hayashi. Adding an element of mystique to the narrative, a mahjong spirit named Chonbo will also play a significant role in the anime.

Behind the scenes, “Pon no Michi” boasts an exceptional team of creators. Tatsuma Minamikawa, known for his work as the director and series composer of Fire Force Season 2, will take the helm as the director and scriptwriter for the anime.

Accomplished manga artist Negi Haruba, famous for The Quintessential Quintuplets, will contribute original character designs to the series. Kenji Ota has been appointed as the character designer, while Emi Kadono will handle the color design.

Scott MacDonald will serve as the art director for the production. Animation duties will be carried out by OLM, ensuring a visually stunning experience for viewers.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Onomichi City, “Pon no Michi” follows the story of Jippensha Nashiko, a high school girl facing the challenge of homelessness after being kicked out of her house.

Determined to find a place where she and her friends can gather, Nashiko seizes the opportunity to revive her father’s former mahjong parlor. Alongside her loyal friends Pai and Izumi, they transform the abandoned parlor into a lively hub where they indulge in various activities, including cooking, playing, and occasionally engaging in the art of mahjong.
