Anime Studios With The Best Openings, Ranked

Anime Studios With The Best Openings

One of the things that makes anime incredible is the music that accompanies it. It heightens the watching experience dramatically, as not only will our eyes be immersed in what we’re watching, but our ears too.

Although an opening doesn’t make an anime bad, it can certainly make it better if it is good. We’ll be ranking the 5 studios that have the best opening songs across all the anime they’ve produced.

5. David Productions

Starting off the list with one of the best studios out there, David Productions has one of the most iconic opening songs. I bet that if you heard the first 3 seconds of it, you’d know instantly where it’s from. Yes, that’s the Opening 1 of Fire Force. With 75M views on YouTube, it’s one of the best and most popular openings ever.

David Productions was also behind the openings of Jojo’s series. A personal favorite is the opening of 2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu.

4. Wit Studio

Despite being one of the newer anime studios, founded in 2012, Wit Studios has left its mark in the anime industry for generations to come. They are known for their gorgeous visual and animation quality, but a little-known secret of theirs is their catalog of opening songs.

The production team behind Attack on Titan, the total YouTube views of all AOT openings surpass 105M, with millions of other views posted on unofficial channels. Besides AOT, the first opening of Vinland Saga had about 19M views.

When it comes to making banger openings, Wit is no stranger, as they have consistently put out hits.

3. Mappa

Mappa has been dominating in the past few years, picking up many manga to adapt and being incredibly successful. Their legendary run since 2020 is still continuing, with announcements of many anime and movies.

According to many fans, Mappa has put out the best openings, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that.

The recent opening of Chainsaw Man went absolutely viral, garnering 80M views. Other viral songs they’ve overseen are Jujutsu Kaisen Opening One by Eve, Hells Paradise Opening and AOT Opening 6. All of them had fans in a frenzy, and we’re sure to see more in their upcoming projects.

2. Bones Inc.

It’s very hard to put into numbers just how many incredible openings this studio has put out. They have a legendary portfolio of anime, and each one is accompanied by some of the best songs you’ll hear in all of anime.

We could do a whole article on all their hit openings, but we’ll stick to just a few for now.

The combined views of all the My Hero Academia openings surpass 200M views, with the best and most popular being Peace Sign by Kenshi Yonezu, with 270M views. There’s also Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Opening 5 by Sid, Soul Eater Opening 1 with 33M views, and many, many more. If you randomly pick an opening by Bones, there’s an extremely high chance it’ll make your playlist.

1. Studio Pierrot

The oldest studio out of all these, Pierrot is unmatched when it comes to openings. Some of the most popular opening songs have come from here, such as the Tokyo Ghoul opening and the Opening 16 of Naruto Shippuden.

There’s a whole playlist on Youtube just for openings by Pierrot (which I highly suggest checking out). Besides the plethora of amazing songs in the Naruto franchise, there’s also the Black Clover openings which are too many to count. Bleach, Boruto, Kingdom; all are filled with amazing openings. Pierrot truly deserves its position on this list and it’s going to take years for it to be dethroned.

The five studios mentioned in this article – David Productions, Wit Studio, Mappa, Bones Inc, and Studio Pierrot – have excelled in this regard, setting new standards for the anime industry and cementing their positions as true masters of their craft. As anime continues to evolve, the art of crafting unforgettable opening songs remains an integral aspect that elevates the medium to new artistic heights.
